Emergence is a body of work examining transition as an active, unfinished state. Organic shapes appear to form little worlds within the paintings. allowing the viewer a glimpse into a personal journey from childhood into adulthood, academics into the workplace, and passive observation into authorship. Rather than presenting resolution, the works dwell in these moments of tension.
The collection documents not only the emergence of Osten as a fine artist, but also the quieter emergence of a more conscious sense of self.

In an immersive subcollection, the artist alchemized the feelings depicted by a single word into hand-drawn figures and mounted each on a rimless, glass frame. As with microscopy, deeper examination will reveal greater complexity. The work offers no fixed conclusion, only the conditions for discovery.
