Artist Statement
I am Ostensibly Speaking, an abstract expressionist painter with a focus in acrylic, watercolor, and linework. My practice leans into uncertainty, each painting a tangible extension of my awareness, desire, and fear. I create visual representations of worldly suffering in order to eliminate attatchment. A encouraging viewers to pause, reframe, and consider what lies just beneath the obvious.
I build layered, abstract paintings that challenge reality and explore the tension between chaos and clarity using intuitive color play. Eyeballs often emerge in my work not as an embellishment, but as presence. Eyes animate the canvas itself, allowing it to look back at you in an exchange of awareness: you perceive the painting, and the painting perceives you. This reciprocity transforms the surface into something alive, reactive, and alert.
My work is an invitation to slow down and notice details often overlooked, and to embrace the tension and harmony between what is seen and what is felt. Every piece is a visual translation of sound, rhythm, and energy into a vibrant form.
